This display of memorabilia was donated by
Mrs. Jane Johnson in loving memory of her late husband Gurden Moore "JR" Johnson, Jr. 

JR was born in Ellisville, Mississippi and proudly served in the Merchant Marines during WWII.
He joined at the young age of 15 and continued to serve two additional years after the end of WWII.

Also featured in this display is a photo of Ensign George Melichar (Laurel, MS), who also served in
the Merchant Marine and US Naval Reserve
