IN MEMORY OF
Mr. Roland Dyess
The Veterans Memorial Museum wishes to express our deepest sympathy to the family of Mr. Roland Dyess, of Kinston, NC.
Mr. Dyess, originally from Paxton, FL and a veteran of the U.S. Navy, passed away on October 10.
Mr. Dyess, a feed mill manager for Sanderson Farms, was well known for his generosity,
and often built and donated scale model airplanes and ships for military veterans.
In 2017, Mr. Dyess donated two World War II scale models to Mr. Jimmy Bass, President Emeritus of the museum.
These models were created in honor of Mr. Bass's brother Julius, a B-17 bomber pilot shot down in France,
and the destroyer/minesweeper ship Mr. Bass served on in the Pacific Theater during WWII.
These models are proudly on display at the Veterans Memorial Museum and we
invite everyone to stop by and see these beautiful gifts.
