Welcome to INSIDE THE VMM

Hello everyone and welcome to a new feature of the Veterans Memorial Museum. Once a month, the VMM will share a feature on this page that will explore a particular aspect of the museum, the life stories of our veterans, or some other interesting and informative information about our community. One of the most important things for us,  as an organization dedicated to sharing the legacy of our veterans, is to forge lasting relationships with the many visitors who come to the VMM. Our hope is that this is one way to do that.
One feature of this blog page will be the ability of the reader/visitor to ask questions, leave comments, or share their own stories. One of the greatest tragedies of this era is the loss of so many of our veterans who have never shared their own stories, or have never had an audience to hear of their contributions to this great nation. It is our hope that this feature will help us to engage the public on a more personal level, allow our visitors a more direct avenue of feedback to us, but also, to create a resource by which they can share their own story or contributions.
This month, our feature is the VMM HISTORY video. It gives a brief overview of how the VMM began, the mission of the museum, and what services and features are available.  Many people are unaware that the VMM actually began in 1996 as a "brainstorm" of some veterans who gathered weekly to drink coffee and share stories. The permanent home of the museum today, opened in 2005, is actually the third location to house the museum. Over the years, as the amount of memorabilia grew, and the need for larger and a more accommodating space became apparent, this little "brainstorm" became the 6,000 square foot facility that is home to the VMM today.
We are excited that you have chosen to check out the new INSIDE THE VMM and we hope you'll come back next month for our next feature. Please feel free to share your feedback with us, and if you really like this feature, feel free to make suggestions for topics you would like to see covered in the future. Don't forget to like us on Facebook, Trip Advisor, and Yelp!

See you next month INSIDE THE VMM!
