Well, I have to tell you, it's hard to believe it's already been a month and it's time for another INSIDE THE VMM. I've really enjoyed producing these segments, although I have been a bit disappointed in the lack of response from the general public. I really hope this month's topic might change that. This month, I take a dive into the area of POWs...Prisoners of War. There are many people that have no idea that the state of Mississippi played host to over 20,000 German and Italian POWs during WWII. This is a subject that I was blessed to learn about as a young man, when by chance, my grandfather, took me to the old Camp Clinton and showed me what little remained of the prison that once was located there. I just happened across some old pictures of these camps recently and chose to make it the subject of this months INSIDE THE VMM. The original version of this episode was about 40 minutes long...but, I realized that NO ONE was going to listen to me speak for that long. After some SERIOUS editing, I have it cut down to about 19 minutes. I tried not to remove any of the more interesting facts, but there really is much more I could have shared. I would urge anyone who is interested in this subject, please watch the YouTube video link I'm providing below. It is from the National Geographic TV show "DIGGERS". The show filmed an episode at the old Camp Clinton in 2017 and it's very entertaining and informative. I learned some really interesting things I had never heard before. I hope you will watch it and learn something too. So...here is EPISODE 5 "POWs in Mississippi / 1943-1947". PLEASE let me have some feedback on this series we are sharing. We really do covet your input and feedback. Till next month... JEFF National Geographic - "DIGGERS Goes to Camp Clinton"
